Harry Gurney drops a catch for Melbourne Renegades

Harry Gurney to feature in BBL, re-signed by Melbourne Renegades

Nottinghamshire seamer Harry Gurney has been re-signed by Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Melbourne Renegades after helping the franchise win the competition in the 2018/19 edition.

Gurney, 32, returned 10 wickets in his nine appearances last season for the Renegades picking up figures of 1/20 in the final.

The 32-year-old was also able to maintain an economy rate of 7.17 despite often bowling the death overs for his franchise.

The left-arm seamer is set to partner Nottinghamshire team-mate Dan Christian for another season at Melbourne Renegades and is excited at the chance to return.

“Playing in and winning the Big Bash League in 2018/19 was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my career and a very special time for my young family,” Gurney said.

“We are thrilled to have the chance to return to Melbourne and try to help the Renegades achieve back-to-back titles.”

Gurney’s ability with the white-ball saw him make 12 limited-overs appearances for England in 2014.

The left-arm seamer also made eight appearances earlier this year for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League as he shifts his focus away from first-class cricket, a format in which he has 310 wickets.

The 2019/20 edition of the Big Bash League is set to run from December 17 until February 8 as the Melbourne Renegades bid for back-to-back titles.

Their title defence starts against Sydney Thunder at Geelong on December 19.
