England Lions enjoyed the best of day two in Abu Dhabi to put themselves in a strong position in the ‘Test’ match versus Pakistan A.

They ended the day with a lead of 189 and six second-innings wickets in hand after the bowlers had earlier dimissed Pakistan A for 195.

Star of the show was Mark Wood, who bowled quickly and nailed his lengths to take 4-67, while fellow opening bowler Jamie Porter was similarly effective, taking 3-22. There were two wickets as well for off-spinner Dom Bess and one for Jamie Overton.

That left the Lions with a lead of 45 and the batters would go on to build on that good work. Some early wickets left the score at 55-4 but Nottinghamshire’s Joe Clarke and captain Sam Billings ended the day unbeaten on 61 and 32 respectively.
