England captain Eoin Morgan left baffled by reporter’s question

As England seek to topple the last domino in their quest to be the dominant force in white-ball international cricket, captain Eoin Morgan spoke about the challenge of India pose ahead of the first T20 at Old Trafford.

Welcoming Virat Kohli’s side for three T20s and three ODIs, Morgan was left scratching his head over one particular answer put to him at a press conference.

Asked if his bowling attack would prize the wicket of Virat Kohli above any other player on the world stage, it took a while for the England captain to summon and answer.

“That’s a very good question,” he replied, in between pauses. “I’m not sure I have the answer.”

As for Kohli himself, he expects an element of familiarity when taking to the field against England having played against a number of players in the IPL this year.

With cricket under the spotlight in the wider reaches of global sport for a acrimonious Test series played between South Africa and Australia earlier this year, Kohli said he expected a ‘warmth’ to be felt between the two teams.

“It (the IPL) is going to make relations between the two teams even better. I think because England haven’t played so much IPL cricket, there was never that familiarity or that sort of warmth between the two teams as much as we have with the other teams,” Kohli said at the same press conference.

“Purely because we didn’t know the guys enough to be able to have conversations with them. I think this season has broken that barrier to a great extent.

“I heard a lot of people are keen to go and play and they should. Why not, it’s a great league to play in. As Jos has been saying for months now, it has done great things to his mindset and he’s taking that on in every format.”
