Jimmy Anderson is a doubt for England’s first Test with Pakistan after injuring his shoulder.

The swing bowler, 33, sustained a stress fracture in the right shoulder blade in the third Test against Sri Lanka at Lord’s earlier this month.

He has sat out Lancashire’s County Championship match against Middlesex this week and will also miss the clash with Nottinghamshire which begins on July 3.

England’s Test series with Pakistan begins on July 14 and the ECB said Anderson’s availability for the first Test would be “determined following ongoing management and review by both the ECB and Lancashire’s medical teams”.
