Umar Gul has been recalled to Pakistan’s ODI squad, over a year after last playing 50-over cricket for his country.
Gul, 32, last played an ODI for Pakistan in April 2015 and is one of four fast bowlers in the squad to face England and Ireland later this month. He did however play in the World T20 this year.
Yasir Shah has also made a return to a limited-overs squad for the first time since November, having been suspended for a doping offence and therefore unavailable for selection when Pakistan toured New Zealand in January 2016.
Uncapped Hasan Ali, 22, is also in the squad having made his List A debut in 2013. He was part of the Pakistan A team that played in the recent triangular series with England Lions and Sri Lanka A.
This series comes as both the Three Lions and Pakistan gear up for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy, to be held in England.
“This squad is a blend of youth and experience and the selectors hoped it will do well,” said chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq. “We have included some young players like Ali to build the team for the future.”
Pakistan leave for Ireland, where they play two one-day internationals in Dublin on August 18 and 20 following the fourth and final Test against England.
The tourists will then play five one-day internationals against England in Southampton (August 24), Lord’s (August 27), Nottingham (August 30), Leeds (September 1) and Cardiff (September 4).
The two teams also clash in the only Twenty20 international at Old Trafford on September 7.
