Kevin Pietersen will be back playing cricket in England having re-signed for Surrey to play T20 Blast this summer.

Pietersen, 36, will play his first game against Essex at the Oval on July 19 and be available for the rest of the tournament.

Pietersen, who recently helped Quetta Gladiators reach the Pakistan Super League final, made 104 Test appearances for England, before being sacked at the end of the disastrous 2013-14 Ashes series.

His last Surrey appearance came in 2015 when he did not bat in a rain affected clash with Sussex.

Pietersen, announcing the news on his Facebook page, said: “I’ve signed back with Surrey. I’m so, so happy. I’m back playing in England and I love playing there and at the Oval. I’ve always loved the dressing room at the Oval.

“One of the great things is I’ll be home all summer. That’s one of the big reasons for doing it. I’ll be there for most of the T20 games in July and August.”
