Leicestershire could be without wicketkeeper Niall O’Brien until the end of July with the Irishman suffering a calf muscle tear.

O’Brien, 34, suffered the injury in a defeat to Warwickshire in the One-Day Cup with brother, and team mate, Kevin O’Brien confirming the news.

Kevin O’Brien said: “As expected, it’s likely to be 4-6 weeks. It could have meant more time on the sidelines, but it’s a grade two tear. Hopefully he can get back quickly.”

O’Brien will miss Ireland’s two ODIs against the touring Sri Lankans on June 16 and June 18 in Malahide while he is also likely to miss five ODIs against Afghanistan in July.
