NETHERLANDS bowler Timm van der Gugten has joined Glamorgan on a three-year deal.

The 24-year-old was born in Australia and has previously played for New South Wales and Tasmania but is perhaps best known in England for claiming the wicket of Eoin Morgan when Netherlands beat England at the 2014 World Twenty20.

Jacques Rudolph is Glamorgan’s overseas player until 2017, but Van der Gugten will be able to play alongside him as he holds an EU passport.

Glamorgan chief executive Hugh Morris said: “TImm is a bowler who has stood out for Netherlands and has the potential to forge a successful county career.”
