NEW Zealand bowler Mitchell McClenaghan will be Middlesex’s overseas player for 2016, after re-signing for the county.

The 29-year-old played four matches in the t20 Blast for the county last year and will move the Lord’s when his commitments in the Indian Premier League are finished.

McClenaghan will be available to play in all formats having played 23 t20 internationals and 47 ODIs for New Zealand. He will link up with Brendon McCullum who has already agreed to play one-day cricket for Middlesex this summer.

Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “Mitchell made a really positive impression in 2015. He gets modern limited-over cricket and the fact a bowler needs to be deliberately unpredictable.

“He has the skills and mindset to be constantly competitive in these forms of the game.”
