NEW Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry has signed for Worcestershire.

The 24-year-old will be the county’s main overseas player for the first half of the season before South African Kyle Abbott takes over at the end of June.

Henry made his Test debut for the Black Caps at Lord’s last year, taking 4-93 and 2-106, having also played in the World Cup final.

In total, Henry has so far played 20 ODIs and is currently part of the New Zealand side facing Sri Lanka.

Henry said: “Worcestershire have had strong links with New Zealand cricket going back to when Glenn Turner played for them for many seasons. And, more recently, with Colin Munro and Mitchell McClenaghan too.

“I hope I can play my part in getting them off to a good start in trying to regain that Division One spot – as well as having another successful run in the T20 Blast.”
