MIDDLESEX’S Ravi Patel has been dubbed “one of the most exciting young spinners in the country” after he signed a new contract.

Patel, 24, is now tied to the county until the end of the 2018 season despite only appearing just once in the County Championship as well as having a spell on loan at Essex.

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “Ravi had a difficult season but remains one of the most exciting young spinners in the country.

“He continues to develop, but the route to the top is rarely straightforward.”
