Kent search for stand in with Donald suffering visa issues

KENT are seeking an interim coach to deputise for Allan Donald with the South African seeking a visa.

Donal was appointed as assistant coach to Matt Walker recently and he is currently working towards the ECB level three qualification he needs to gain the visa necessary to take up the role.

Donald did not link up with the Kent squad on their recent tour to the West Indies and the Canterbury outfit are frustrated that the ruling is delaying his arrival, considering the former South African fast bowler’s vast international experience.

Donald, 50, has previously mentored the fast bowlers of England, Australia and South Africa and worked with IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore and deputised for Nicky Boje as head coach at South African franchise the Knights last winter.

It could still be weeks before Donald is able to join up with the squad, though Kent will aim to find an interim coach as soon as possible.
