Hundred chief Steve quits ECB role for Surrey

THE ECB has lost the man who ‘saved cricket’ last summer to Surrey.Former South Africa seamer Steve Elworthy is to leave his role as director of The Hundred to become Surrey’s new chief executive, replacing Richard Gould, who has rejoined Bristol City FC.Elworthy joined the ECB as managing director of events in 2019, having overseen the running of that year’s World Cup for the International Cricket Council.The 56-year-old also worked tirelessly behind the scenes, taking charge of the bio-secure Covid bubbles at Old Trafford and the Ageas Bowl that salv...
