The Cricket Paper takes a break for winter

WE marvelled at what the 2019 cricket season brought us with its spectacular events…then along came the remarkable summer of 2020 with memories all of its own.

Who could forget last summer’s iconic image of Ben Stokes punching the air in delight in front of a packed, roaring Ashes crowd at Headingley, or the sight of Jos Buttler whipping the bails away to earn England a World Cup success at an expectant Lord’s?

That felt like a world away during this sporting summer which promised so much but left the world banished to their homes and having to watch from the comfort of their armchairs.

Still, let’s emphasise the positives.

In the space of two months, we fi tted in two gripping Test series, three with the white ball and even managed to fi t in a truncated domestic campaign too! Pretty good going if you ask us.

As ever, The Cricket Paper was there every step of the way but now it’s time to hang up our pads for the winter and prepare for 2021, whatever that will bring.

We thank all of our readers, subscribers and contributors for their loyal support and look forward to bringing them the best coverage again when we return (hopefully) for the start of the new County Championship season.

Winter well and stay safe everyone.
