CENTURION Cheteshwar Pujara became the joint-third fastest Indian to reach 4,000 Test runs as his 128 not out gave Virat Kohli’s side a commanding position on the first day of their second Test against Sri Lanka in Columbo.
He and fellow centurion Ajinkya Rahane (103*) put on an unbeaten 211 stand for the fourth wicket as India finished the day on 344-3.
The morning session started with the usual gameplan from India as Shikhar Dhawan raced into the 30s, bringing up an opening 50-run partnership alongside Lokesh Rahul within 10 overs.
