THE Essex match report was right to recognise Kumar Sangakkara’s feat of five consecutive centuries but failed to mention the contribution made by the 18-year-old Amar Virdi making his debut.
Bowling spin he was able to contain the Essex batsmen and took three wickets. If he continues to develop, he will have a bright future with Surrey and hopefully, in time, with England.
