England all-rounder Ben Stokes has been tipped to land a big deal when he is auctioned for the Indian Premier League, according to Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh.

The auction for this season’s version of the competition will take place at the end of this month in Bangalore, where India won yesterday’s T20 decider to clinch the series 2-1.

Talking to BBC Sport, Yuvraj claimed that Stokes would be worth “a couple of million” when the bidding begins. Yuvraj himself was sold for a record amount of £1.6m in 2015 to the Delhi Daredevils.

Stokes recently played in all six of England’s ODI and T20 matches against India, scoring two half-centuries in the process.

The New Zealand-born all-rounder has developed into an accomplished bowler at the death and his array of skills will surely appeal to a number of IPL teams come late February.

“He’s a quality hitter, fast bowler and fielder. He’ll definitely get the big bucks,” Yuvraj added. “He brings a lot to the table.”

The IPL runs this year from 5 April to 21 May and English players will be more available than usual due to a lack of a Test match in May.

There are two England players already signed up to IPL teams, namely Sam Billings and Jos Buttler, but several more will be undoubtedly sought after in the auction.

According to statistics company Cricviz, Stokes had the highest fielding impact of any single player in T20 internationals in 2016.
