EMILIO Gay believes his maiden first-class century is testament to his single-minded approach to the sport.
Northamptonshire’s academy graduate, who registered the landmark against Kent at Canterbury earlier this month, has never considered himself the most naturally talented cricketer.
He is, though, blessed with a confidence born out of conviction the game is 20 per cent inspiration and 80 per cent perspiration.
This mindset carried Gay through a scholarship at Bedford School, an institution littered with illustrious sporting alumni including Olympian Harold Abrahams of Chariots of Fire...
