Uncapped Tom Curran called up to England squad

ENGLAND have named Surrey bowler Tom Curran as a replacement for Jake Ball in the squad to face the West Indies with the Nottinghamshire seamer suffering from a knee injury.

Ball will have a scan after picking up the knock in Monday’s victorious warm-up game and the Three Lions have called up uncapped Curran to fill his space.

Curran, 21, was in the middle of a tour of Sri Lanka with the England Lions but will now join the squad ahead of Friday’s first clash.

Curran said: “It’s all pretty surreal right now, but I’m giddy, I can’t wait to get out there.”

Curran is the older brother of fellow Lions and Surrey bowler Sam Curran, while he is also the son of late Zimbabwe all-rounder Kevin Curran.

He is set to join the squad alongside Alex Hales who has recovered from a hand fracture.

England squad: Eoin Morgan (captain), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jake Ball, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler (wk), Tom Curran, Liam Dawson, Steven Finn, Alex Hales, Liam Plunkett, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes
