On the Spot – Matt Dunn, Surrey Fast Bowler

Date of Birth: 05/05/1992 Marital Status: Girlfriend (Jessica). Previous Clubs: Egham.

The Last

Bat you bought/used? A Kookaburra Bubble. It was a good bat and I got a few runs with it which was nice.

CD you bought? A Shaggy one. I can’t remember which but I saw it in a pound shop and I hadn’t listened to him for years so I got it.

Five-wicket haul or century? 5-48 against Gloucestershire at the Oval in May. I was in a good rhythm and it would’ve been nice to have had a couple more.

Injury? A rib problem last season. It’s been nice to stay injury free this season as the last few years I’ve picked up niggles that have kept me out.

Trophy you won? Last week I won the two Young Player of the Year awards at Surrey.

The Jury’s Out

Tea or Coffee? Coffee – I’ve only really started drinking it this year but it gives me that little bit more energy.

Beans on toast or pasta? Beans on toast. I’m not a big pasta fan and beans on toast was a classic when I was younger.

Caribbean with the missus or Magaluf with the lads? Magaluf. I’ve never been because of cricket in the summer. I’ve been on enough girlfriend holidays so I’m due one with the boys.

Red or white wine? Red because I eat a lot of red meat.

Merlot or Shiraz? Merlot.

One Day, T20 or County Championship? County Championship. In T20 you can play terribly and still do well whereas in the Championship it’s more of a test.

Time added on

Who did you support as a boy? I’ve always supported Surrey in cricket because I was brought up here. I’m also a Harlequins fan in rugby.

Best coach you have ever worked with? It’s a tough one but I’d probably have to say Graham Ford. That’s not me being diplomatic – he’s been very good for me, given me opportunities and I feel like I’ve kicked on quite a bit this year under him.

Who is the messiest player in the dressing room? Rory Burns. A typical keeper who doesn’t wash his kit and he just invades our corner with all his stuff.

The most nervous when next into bat? Arun Harinath. He never sits down and always has to be doing something. That’s why he likes to open so he doesn’t have to wait around.

Person to avoid after being dismissed? Jason Roy. Everyone vacates the changing room when he gets out. He’s got better to be fair but there’s still a lot of shouting.

One rule you could change? Being a bowler I’d like to have a few more breaks during the day or be able to come off the field after finishing a spell.

Three words to describe yourself? Smiley. Aggressive. Stupid.

Which TV pundit makes you cringe? It would probably be Steve Harmison. Sometimes he doesn’t really know what to say which makes me laugh.

And which do you really listen to? Bob Willis. He’s a fellow fast bowler who always has something to say.

Do you have any superstitions? When I bowl I have to wear a tubigrip on my right arm. I have no idea why but without it I don’t really bowl right.

What are your hobbies? None as such as I like to just chill out when we’ve got time off. I enjoy the golf driving range occasionally.

Five people you’d invite round for a dinner party? Rory Burns, Jade Dernbach, Jason Roy – I’ve been to a few with them and it’s always been good fun. James Corden as I’m a big fan of his. And David Beckham because he seems the coolest bloke in the world from the outside but it would be nice to see what he’s really like.

And finally:

Who is the worst dressed player at the club? Stuart Meaker. He’s always in old school prep boy clothes. He tries to ask everyone what to wear but then just ignores what they suggest.
