The ECB has acknowledged Middlesex’s appeal over their two-point deduction for a slow over rate which sealed their relegation in the County Championship.

Middlesex lodged an appeal on the 29 September after the controversial decision to hand Adam Voges’ side a points deduction when their match at the Oval was abandoned after a crossbow was fired onto the square.

The abandonment meant the visitors were unable to recover their over rate and defeat at Somerset on the last day of the County Championship season meant they were relegated from Division One.

A decision is likely to be made by the end of next week and may have repercussions for the season’s outcome with just one point separating Somerset from Middlesex.
