Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Grumbler’s first annual county cricket awards gala dinner. It is fantastic to see the great and the good of the domestic game out of their whites and, instead, wearing black tie.
It has been a truly wonderful evening so far. I would like to thank the cabaret. We all knew Mark Butcher was a fine musician but who knew the Curran brothers could be the Andrew Ridgeleys to his George Michael? Also, thanks to Dominic Cork for his mime act, mainly because it kept him quiet for a bit.
