Joy, stigma, or both? That is one of the questions asked of six England cricketers who won just one Test cap – players who, for one reason or another, were tapped on the shoulder and led away from the bright lights just as greatness beckoned.
Their stories are the subject of a podcast by Brian Murgatroyd, a man who knows cricket and cricketers well, having worked for among others Sky, ECB, ICC and Cricket Australia. Murgatroyd tracked down and interviewed his subjects, who, over an hour of chat, are gratifyingly candid in their responses.
