CAPTAIN Paul Stirling made Irish cricket history after helping his side to victory in their opening game of the Quadrangular T20 International against hosts Oman yesterday.
Man of the match Stirling top scored with 71 and, by bringing up his 14th half century in his 86th match, overtook William Porterfield’s tally of 2,039 runs in the shortest format of the game.
The skipper struck 11 fours in his 51-ball knock to steer his team to 159-5 at Al Amarat.
