Chris Lynn Just Went Absolutely Crazy

Chris Lynn, you’re a bad man. A bad, bad man.

The Brisbane Heat batsman completely and utterly ruined the Perth Scorchers today with a magnificent 98 not out from 49 balls, including a disgusting 11 sixes.

Lynn, alongside fellow ball-bludgeoning enthusiast Brendon McCullum (50*), clobbered Brisbane to their target of 174 with five overs to spare, securing the Heat a fourth Big Bash win and cementing a finals berth.

The big-hitting Queenslander is on track for a second successive year as the tournament’s leading run scorer, and after the match summed up his unique batting philosophy:
“I actually find it easier to hit a six (than a four) because you don’t have to hit it through someone, you just…hit it over them.”
Words we can all live by. Anyway, here is a small selection of Lynn’s philosphy in action, some of which is very NSFW due to its brutal nature. You have been warned.

Yes, that is one of Chris Lynn’s sixes perched casually on the roof, what of it?

Obviously, Lynn’s antics were starting to grate with McCullum, who understandably wanted a slice of the action and started spanking 100-metre sixes and breaking his bat. Fair enough.

Lynn and McCullum are nicknamed ‘The Bash Brothers’, by the way. I wonder why…

Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. We can only assume old Albert, had he been alive today, would have said the definition of ‘Lynnsanity’ must mean doing the same thing over and over again expecting the same devastating results. And he wouldn’t be wrong. You can watch the highlights of Lynn’s innings here.

The nine-wicket win moves the Heat top of the BBL with a return home bout against Perth at the Gabba next Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lynn’s red-hot summer with the bat is expected to earn him a call-up for Australia’s one-day series against Pakistan, starting next Friday.
