Calls for change to ‘joke’ rules

CLUBcricketers in Oxfordshire are calling for an end to a ‘joke’ rule that prevents Home Counties Premier League players turning out in the Cherwell League.
A host of Home Counties sides have second string sides in the Cherwell League but rules prevent regulars in the former competing in the final two rounds of the latter.
The law is designed to prevent clubs from packing their second team with frontline players but Aston Rowant, Banbury, Horspath, Oxford, Oxford Downs and Thame Town disagree.
