Dawson included in England ODI squad

Uncapped Liam Dawson has been included in England’s 15-man squad for the upcoming ODI series with Pakistan.

The Hampshire all-rounder made an impressive international debut in the IT20 against Sri Lanka at the Ageas Bowl in July, taking 3-27, but has never played an ODI.

He is joined in the squad by Durham pair Ben Stokes and Mark Wood who have both been rewarded for their positive response to injuries by being included.

Stokes tore a calf muscle in the third Test against Pakistan while Wood has not played for England since an ankle injury sustained in last winter’s series against Pakistan in the UAE which has required two operations.

Captain Eoin Morgan has recovered from chipping a bone in his finger while Jos Buttler is included despite having not played since suffering a fractured thumb playing for Lancashire at Worcester on July 8.

England ODI squad: Eoin Morgan (capt, Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jonny Bairstow (Yorkshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Liam Dawson (Hampshire), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), Liam Plunkett (Yorkshire), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), David Willey (Yorkshire), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham)
