Essex won’t replace overseas star Adam Milne

Essex will look to their own young players to replace overseas star Adam Milne for the T20 Blast rather than bring in a replacement.

Milne, 24, will miss his scheduled seven match spell after suffering an elbow injury but Essex will now look at their academy players to step up and fill the void.

Academy players have already made an impact for the county this summer and the club believe the experience the player gain “will only stand them and the squad in good stead for the future”.

Essex head coach Chris Silverwood said: “Although it is disappointing Milne can’t join us for his upcoming spell, we are looking forward to seeing how the young players go when given an opportunity.

“As a club we are renowned for investing in youth and we will continue to do so to improve their experiences over the remaining matches of the campaign. Giving them opportunities now will only help them in the future.”
