Teamer at the ready for Spencer U11 manager

Spencer Cricket Club is one of the biggest clubs in the UK with over 1200 registered league players.

The Earlsfield based club is embarking on another exciting season and one in which 92% of last season’s players have signed up for.

The club’s top squad has been beaten just once in three years in NEC League & Cup tournaments. In 2016, Spencer won the U10 Esher Tournament, U10 NEC 1 League and U10 NEC Cup.

All at Spencer will be hoping to replicate such success across the age groups this season, and to help him match or exceed last season’s achievements, the U11 manager Charles Jefferson will be more reliant on sports management app Teamer than ever.

Communicate effectively

With 142 boys to manage this season, it can be an organisational nightmare trying to get everyone in the right place at the right time.

Teamer helps coaches and managers organise training and matches across a multitude of sports. It enables you to easily notify players or parents if team training is moved or a match is cancelled, avoiding the confusion and miscommunication that can occur in long group message threads.

“Not really knowing what I was signing up for I blindly accepted the task of managing an age group with 120 boys,” explains Charles of his decision to manage the U8 team in 2014. “The first piece of advice shared by more experienced AGMs…was to ‘use Teamer otherwise you’ll go mad.’ I have never looked back.

“It just takes all the headaches out of managing weekly training sessions and selecting teams. On any given Sunday we have up to seven league teams in our age group playing matches across three leagues – NEC, MSL and WML. I really don’t know if I could do this without Teamer.”

Teamer eliminates the need for the endless stream of texts, emails and phone calls to check on a player’s availability, and Charles has been using the app to his benefit for three years.

Managers can choose between email, text and Teamer app notifications to keep communication consistent and players/parents in the loop about forthcoming club events. If there is a cancellation at short notice, Teamer can send a notification via a manager’s preferred medium alerting the entire squad.

Greater Response

Charles enjoys the fact that team management can all be conducted from one place. He will set up an event for either a match or training and parents are able to let the manager know whether their child is able to attend with just a couple of clicks.

“Teamer is a great platform to manage teams,” says Charles. “I love the fact that our Team Managers set up teams with some reserves and Teamer handles everything else.”

Teamer is available on desktop, IOS or Android, with Charles appreciating the app’s ability to garner a greater response from parents over the availability of their children.

“I am trying to get all my parents to download as I find that response rates to team selection is higher amongst app users,” he adds.

Players and managers alike have access to a secure and privately shared team website where they can check team statistics, share photos, upload documents like player registration forms and, of course, view the event calendar.

Teamer can also be used by players to make payments to the club. Teamer Payments is the easy solution for collecting annual fees, team subs, social events and even kit expenses for your cricket team.

With such an impressive sign-up rate for the 2017 season, Charles is sure to have the app doing overtime as he organises matches across multiple competitions in what promises to be a busy few months ahead.
