The Cricket Paper voted ECB County Newspaper of the Year

The Cricket Paper is delighted to announce we have been voted ECB County Newspaper of the Year.

It is the second time in three years that we have picked up the award, having earned the accolade in 2014 too.

Regular TCP contributor Will Macpherson was named the Christopher Martin-Jenkins Young County Journalist of the Year, while Tim Wigmore, also a TCP regular, was named as a runner-up in the same category.

The Cricket Paper’s Executive Editor, Alex Narey, said: “The Cricket Paper is delighted to receive this award as recognition for its continued efforts to report and offer coverage of the county game. We believe that, despite so much saturated coverage online by the likes of CricInfo – who do a wonderful job – there is still scope for us to improve what we do and we are constantly striving to achieve this with exclusive material, interviews and features within the county structure

“The county game is a crucial area of our focus, and county cricket has never been better from a reporting point of view. Here’s a great 2017 season and beyond.”

ECB Chief Executive Officer Tom Harrison said: “These awards recognise and reward the vital role cricket writers and broadcasters play in driving interest in all our domestic competitions.  My congratulations to the winners and our sincere thanks to all the individuals and media organisations who provided such comprehensive and insightful coverage across a truly memorable county season.”
